Shanty Creek Resort

Beautiful area. Room very clean, looked recently remodeled, nice shower. Quiet room, except it was next to an entry door that you could hear people coming in and out from, #330. Enjoyed the pool, clean and warm, looks out into nature. Gym was awesome, like a mini-YMCA, with sauna, whirlpool, weights, great exercise machines. Facility was clean, and staff available too.
One odd thing. When you check in they add to your deposit with your credit card about $50, then take it off when you check out. They ask your permission to do this, but I was caught off guard and said ok. They give you this resort debit card to use as cash in the resort for incidentals...kinda strange, but if you golf or ski there guess it would be helpful.
Facility has some wear, but always very very clean. Staff is serious at the front desk, but everyone else very friendly and helpful.
Oh, and pay attention to the map they give you. Very easy to get lost when returning to resort at night. They have a nice shuttle I wish I had taken to town and back. Yes, we got lost.
So, we would return, just didn't fit in a 100% as we were neither retired, golfers or attending a conference there.

The place has too many steps for my bad knees. It has no where to sit outside to wait for your ride and no where to sit in the long expansive hallways. They could easily add benches for people in the conference center. Good was ok. Servers were great!

Shanty is a nice resort that has 2 great golf courses and 1 good course and 1 bad course. The Legend and Cedar River are wonderful courses with a good selection of tee boxes. Condos where very nice and service was solid.

Club houses need updating, especially the bathrooms. One simple rule in the restaurant/golf world . Customers evaluate cleanliness based on how a bathroom looks. Shanty creek bathrooms at the clubhouses are old, strange toilet and need of repair. At the legend the pro shop looks nice, Arnies below looks like it hasn't been touched in 15 years.

You have great courses and good service. Complete the experience and have a top resort.

I was here with my wife. She was attending a conference for township planning commissioners. The room was comfortable, with a good view the lake in the valley.
The nearby town has a restaurant we like, Shorts Brewery. The free shuttle to town and back is a nice option.
A lovely cool Summer breeze the entire time we were there.
