My family and I prefer this place for authentic food over any other in town. We’ve started to spread the word. This is our new favorite place for authentic Mexican/Guatemalan cuisine! I honestly can’t say anything bad about this place; the place was clean, the prices were excellent, the portions are good, the food is delicious and tastes like it’s cooked with love and most of all, the staff were all VERY hospitable, even the cook. They made us feel like family and they had the best attitudes. The atmosphere was uplifting because of this.

Nobody could ask for a better place like this in Ypsilanti. Don’t waste your time on ANY OTHER PLACE. JUST COME TO TIKALITO! You won’t regret it ( :

Already been in twice since they opened. Hector is just the nicest guy and they are serving some of the best Mexican/Central American food in the area right now. The Guatemalan-style tamales are maybe the best tamales I've had in SE Michigan. They're wrapped in banana/plantain leaf, huge and the masa is so soft and flavorful. Watch out for the bones in the chicken tamal (you get a whole leg section inside), but they are truly wonderful. Got the shrimp tacos on my most recent visit and they might be the best tacos I've ever had in Ypsi. They are CASH ONLY for now, so make sure you hit up the ATM if you're low, but everything is really affordable. Easily the most authentic and flavorful food for the money in Ypsi right now.
