American Coney Island

On a recommendation, stopped into Lafayette next door, but when I saw American I had to save room for that next. Great place for a hot dog. You want local flavor, this is it. They focus on the basic Coney Island hot dog - dog, chili, mustard, onions - and do it well. One is not enough. There is a rivalry between the two, and not much difference. If I had to pick, I'd pick American because they ad a bit more chili and the servers banter with you more.

A nice simple place to have really good American food for lunch. This is a case where the menu is simple but the food is really good. It may not be fancy but it is delicious and affordable (which is important if you need lunch in an area like this where most other places have similar quality food for twice the price).

Also the atmosphere was relaxing and the staff are all nice and chill. It was like going to a friend's house to try his famous coneys and chili and just hang out with The Boys™. While we were there a lady came in and saw the dogs roasting and requested some specific burnt ones and the manager fixed em' up for her himself.

Come here if you want a simple, good, no-nonsense diner experience.

More spacious than Lafayette next door and better food as well - I always make it a point to get a Coney dog and fries whenever I come visit. Everything feels fast paced and hectic, but never to the point where the experience is overwhelming. Food is awesome, but sometimes it can take a while to get served with how busy everything can get. Still love coming here!

This place lived up to the hype!!! Very clean and spacious restaurant, excellent and attentive service, and best of all, a superb Coney!!! Our server was very helpful and explained the various options to us. The hot dog was tasty and had a nice snap to it. The chili also tasted great. We also ordered french fries, which were cooked perfectly. Loved that everything was served hot.

Gyro and grilled chicken pita sandwiches tasted good but the meat wasn't hot... It was probably pre cooked a long time ago.
Fries were soggy, so they were old
