Empacho Detroit is a delight! Amazing food, cozy ambiance, and fantastic service. A must-visit for any food lover.
Soooo good! We ordered empanadas from Empacho while having wine next door at Red Hook - they offered to bring our food over to us once it was ready so we could enjoy our wine instead of waiting which was so nice! The food was incredible, loved both the chicken and chorizo empanadas along with the sauce that was suggested for both. Will be back again soon!
Empacho Argentinian Street Food is a great find. An array of meat and vegetarian empanadas were fresh and delicious. I’d recommend the alfajors, they are a cookie filled with dulce de leche. I ordered online and everything was ready, organized and clean.
So delicious! I highly recommend 10/10 will be back for more. This place is perfect, I love the location and is a great addition to the neighborhood!
The food, everything is delicious. I came with a small group. We got 12 empanadas both the beef (Mendoza and salta), napolitan and the spinach and mozzarella. They were out of chicken or we would have tried that also. We were fighting over the last one! We cut them in half so we could all have a taste of them all and basically couldn’t stop eating! The dough is so light and crispy but still doughy and filled to perfection! We tried a few different sauces the chimichurri was amazing on everything and also the garlic mustard one , the herb sour cream too! Honestly I couldn’t decide which sauce I liked best.
THEN the dessert. We had a few orders of the mini sweet empanadas, unanimously everyone’s favorite was that dolce Leche, and second up we or a split vote between the sweet cream and the chocolate and as far as dipping sauce for the dessert we were also split between the dolce, Leche and the dark chocolate sauce however you cannot go wrong with either.
In Detroit the food scene is becoming increasingly competitive. It's a race to see who can be the freshest and most creative! Empacho is exactly what Detroit needs. It's great food at a greater value! Empanadas for 4.50$ a pop is an incredible bargain. Every sauce is fresh and exciting! My favorite empanada/sauce combo by far is the Chorizo with chimichurri. I also loved the beef salta with criolla and of course the chicken with llawja(yao-wuh) salsa. If you get the chipas (cheese bread balls) get it with llawja...
I came back here and had their ham and cheese as well as their breakfast. It was soooo good as well!! Have the garlic mustard with the ham and cheese and you can have sour cream.
They also have great merchandise and the person who runs it, Camila (I think that's how you spell her name) is more than happy to explain the cultural background info behind everything! I am so freaking excited this place is finally open and am looking forward to seeing what they bring!!! (Stay tuned for events they will be doing with Red Hook Coffee right next door!!)
