Slows Bar BQ

Honestly, if you've been to Detroit and you didn't go to Slows, you likely just went to Pontiac or Auburn Hills and said you went to Detroit. This place is must. Their BBQ is absolutely fantastic, they have a great beer selection, and they're located in historic Cork town, with a view of Michigan Central in all of it's old, degraded glory (though hopes are riding high that Ford will follow through on it's plans to renovate it for it to become it's autonomous car facility).

Wonderful barbecue selection here! Beef brisket and sausage are hands-down delicious. The variety of sauces I think about six varieties. The sweet sauce is well balanced and so good on just about everything. If you love pork they got a pork plate special. If you’re undecided their combo specials are great. Delicious corn bread and macaroni and cheese as sides. Also a great beer selection for Michigan-based beers and delicious beers from across the country.

Lives up to it's reputation. Great meats and sides. Definitely try the Mac n cheese. Good beers on tap but they are listed on two chalk boards so you have to pay attention!

A Detroit Institution that everyone should try. The Pulled Pork was moist, but perhaps a little saltier than I prefer. The Apple BBQ Chicken was tasty and sweet. Many good sauces (Apple, Sweet, Spicy, North Carolina, and Mustard) to choose from if you like sauce on your BBQ. For first-timers, expect a wait during busy times and the entrance is a big healthy-looking wood door.

My first trip to Slows and I wasn't disappointed. They do a pretty mean BBQ, brisket, pulled pork, chicken etc. I also liked their sauces especially in combination. The service was great too. It's a busy place so we had to wait but they gave us a pretty accurate time too. Highly recommend!
