We decided on this place, and were blown away! They make everything in house, including cheese and beer!! The bread of the day was cheddar cheese. It was so good! The cheddar flavor was subtle, but unmistakable. It was served warm, as well. I had the crab cakes and rice pilaf. Delicious! Not that overwhelming green pepper flavor in so many crab cakes. Fish and chips were AMAZING!! As good, if not better, than any we had in Ireland. The batter was not your typical beer batter, or whatever, either. Just so good!
One of my favorite places to go. Always great food. Very unique. The family atmosphere makes it appropriate for everyone.
My last time at TJ'S was in the early 70's, so I wasn't sure what to expect. In a word, wonderful! Neighborhood is thriving, well worth walking around to investigate. The food, the service, the atmosphere all could not have been better. Had the best French Dip I have ever had! Will be returning soon for another one.
One of our absolute favorite restaurants. This spot is a Detroit gem. Beautiful and eclectic inside with a truly wonderful menu. Very seriously, we've been going here and taking friends here for years and we have never, not once, had a meal that was less than SPECTACULAR. Delicious food, great atmosphere. We live out by Lansing now and still drive out a few times a year. They make their own bread, their own cheese (Michigan's smallest licensed dairy), and they grow the herbs for their teas on the roof of the building. It's always a wonderfully charming experience. They even have dedicated parking right across from the restaurant. This is a don't miss.
They make their own cheese. THEIR OWN CHEESE!!!! I give them 5 stars on that alone!! Brew their own beer as well, and churn their own ice cream. How can you beat that? I tell you how: with fast service and a cool vibe, that's how.
