We had a much-anticipated Birthday Brunch date. Nice atmosphere and music, pleasant service; it was a bit surprising that the there was no board or other written info regarding raw bar offerings. Thankfully, our waiter provided us with his list of options, and the Oysters were amazing--perfectly chilled, with a great accompanying mignonette. I recommend mixing & matching for round one, and then another round of your faves. We were very underwhelmed with the brunch menu and stuck with Oysters. Brine would benefit GREATLY if they made a seafood tower available for both the Brunch and Dinner menu; that's a very easy $50-$75 minimum, for many tables, straight in the door!! As an Oyster house, we hoped for more raw bar options. Give us tentacles! Shrimp cocktail! Even at noon!!
Their signature Show Stopper complimented the Oysters nicely, my date had an absolutely undrinkable Bloody Mary (no idea what it tasted like, not Vodka, not tomato, but something...acidic and just WEIRD) that was taken off the bill without request, which was nice.
All in all, a decent experience. I expect, as with all new restaurants, that they'll work out some kinks and tweak the menus a bit until they find their groove.
Seafood tower available for all menus, please!!
Wonderful experience as the atmosphere & service was fantastic! Love the NOLA vibe & decor & music. Food was mediocre. I am used to New Orleans so this was a disappointment. Sea charcuterie was very good! Shellfish bisque was great. Fries are just ok. Lemon meringue pie was outstanding! Posh Nosh fish sticks were awful. Coconut cream pie was inedible. Cucumber/watermelon salad under seasoned, mushroom side dish not good. Crispy Oyster Roll did not need all that sweet red sauce. Needs a good Mayo & keep it simple….tastes nothing like a NOLA fried oyster sandwhich. Cocktail menu needs work & should include some classic New Orleans cocktails. I will go back many times as I know they will improve the menu & the service was so good! The Vibe is what Grosse Pointe desperately needs. Overall 3 out of 5 stars.
Update: went back again & tried multiple other dishes with another couple & eveything was bland, under seasoned & very mediocre. Not sure when they will fix their menu but I hope soon! How about a seafood tower! Take the Posh Nosh fish sticks off as we all agreed they are awful! This place is a gem but food needs to improve to keep the clientele coming back again & again!
Tried almost everything on the menu and it was delicious! Especially love the sea charcuterie and oysters. Great vibe and GREAT service. Such an exciting addition to our neighborhood. Can’t wait to return! :)
I have high hopes for Brine's success. The ambiance is truly remarkable, evoking the vibrant spirit of NOLA with its decor, complemented by live jazz on the balcony. The staff's warmth and attentiveness enhance the experience, ensuring guests are well looked after. While the food we tried was enjoyable, and we had several dishes, I missed something that excited me. Nevertheless, I believe in their potential to refine their offerings, given their dedication. I look forward to returning, I believe Brine has all the elements to thrive and deliver an outstanding dining experience. A unique place in the Grosse Pointe community worth checking out.
