Lavender mint lemonade soda was so refreshing. We didn’t like the cheerwine cocktail. Food was okay. We definitely loved the chicken dumpling soup. The sweet potato fries were not crispy and it was served with ketchup vs a marshmallow or cinnamon dip.

First visit and we were impressed, both with the quality of food, the portions, and the service. We came here for a birthday celebration lunch on a Saturday. Comfortable seating and attentive service.

The flavors are vibrant, the seasonings were unique. The food presentation was very aesthetically pleasing. My fiancé ordered the Po boy and I ordered the Sunrise Fried Chicken Sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both were enjoyable. Collard greens and truffle rosemary fries were also fun.

Bathrooms are easy to locate, and well maintained. Parking is ample and free. Atmosphere is comfortable and fun. We would go back.

Southern Social boasts a mixed experience with some high points and areas needing improvement. The highlight was undoubtedly the pastrami sandwich, featuring large, delectably smoked pastrami chunks—a true flavor delight. However, the house-style crispy chicken sandwich fell short of expectations, lacking the anticipated crunch, possibly due to the excessive thickness of the chicken. The fries were passable but not remarkable.

Service was a notable drawback. An initial wait of several minutes at the door was an uninviting start. Our server's lack of attentiveness was disappointing, especially since a request for extra pickles would have enhanced the chicken sandwich, which came with just a few. The slow service also meant missed opportunities for additional beer orders.

The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting, with a pleasing aesthetic and a tantalizing aroma of good food. The extensive menu promises more culinary adventures, warranting a return visit. However, the service aspects definitely need addressing.

Another point of contention was the 3% courtesy upcharge, ambiguously explained, impacting our tipping decision. A straightforward increase in menu prices might be a better approach.

In summary, Southern Social earns a solid 4 out of 5 stars, with the potential to sway this rating in either direction based on future experiences.

We met family members here for an early holiday get together, first time for all. We were seated then waited approximately 20 minutes for waitstaff to appear. After that, things were good and our waitstaff Gretchen was wonderful. Good food and service. Nice place, big inside, plenty of tables. Good menu and prices are very reasonable. Good beer and cocktail menu. Delicious Steel Toe on tap. We would certainly stop again.
