Birchwood Cafe

Really good food here. It's a bit pricey, but the quality is outstanding. At one and the same time, it tastes wholesome, you can tell someone really made this food, and also they have unique and adventurous dishes. We loved the maple sambal carrots, the winter root veg pie, and the burger with a super high quality bun. Service was friendly and nice, and I felt relaxed and at home. Great atmosphere, I highly recommend.

This place does it right. Not only is the food outstanding but Birchwood is truly and visibly committed to basic human rights. They impose a Fair Wage Tax on every meal so that their employees have livable wages. Surrounding the counter are loads of wholesome, organic nonperishables that you can purchase and give directly to local food pantries (literally, there are three bins sitting in front of the entrance!) Again, the food is outstanding. I had a basic egg scramble but the carrot puree and vegetables made it look and taste like a million bucks. Good work, Birchwood Cafe! May other restaurants follow your lead!

Amazing!!! Excellent local and organic options. Teas, coffees, beers, juices. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Savory Waffle was so delicious!!! Staff is attentive, friendly, and efficient. My favorite breakfast spot in the Twin Cities.

This place has a good vibe and the staff was friendly. The food was really good and of high quality though a bit overpriced ($16 for a hamburger and you had to pay extra for cheese or fries or a drink). They have beer and wine on tap and have a relaxed modern Cafe vibe. They do not have any pop, which was unfortunate since I was craving caffeine, and they do not have a full bar.

Modern American cuisine for health conscious clientele. It's counter service but the staff is very attentive. You can also buy some of their house made products packaged to take home. Seasonal menu items may change frequently.
