Russell's On the Lake

I have been to Russell's several times and although the ambiance is good, the food has always come up a little short. For starters, the salad bar if you choose it, is great. Lots of items to build your salad and they have a good variety of cold salads too. The main course offerings are good and you get a big portion, but unfortunately it usually lacks flavor. I have had the steak, steak and shrimp, and prime rib, and it looks great when presented at the table but upon first bite it falls short with little flavor. If you have a desert, this is usually where they do well. Every dessert that I have had from the cheesecake to lava cake and ice cream has been very good. I like the "supper club" feel of Russell's with the relaxed setting, because there isn't many like this around anymore. It is perfectly set along the shore of Big Lake, and easy to get to.

For our group of 11, the wait was a bit long but the food was well worth the wait. Christmas decorations were very pretty but seemed less than in years past. Will definitely return.

Visited for their Thanksgiving buffet. Had reservations for a 2pm seating. Very obvious they had not planned enough time between reservations as understandably, people were visiting after they finished their meal. Wait time was about 45 minutes in an over packed lobby. Meal was buffet style with very good tasty foods (turkey, ham, prime rib). Low point was their pies. Had the apple which I would classify as the 3 for $10 type you'd pick up at a gas station as an "oops I forgot" last minute option. None the less, I will visit again when the opportunity exists.

I love this spot! Great view of the lake and top notch food for a super reasonable price!
