Dumbo's on Duling

My husband and I enjoyed a really wonderful experience here last night for date night. When we arrived the hostesses greeted us warmly, explained there would be an hour wait but we were welcome to order a cocktail or walk around and come back. We chose to order cocktails and hang out on the sofa. The time flew by, our cocktails were amazing...Hibbiti Bibibiti Boo; Johnny Apple Sage and one other I forgot the name. Our server Scott was fabulous...friendly, not rushing us but always there to answer questions or take our order for the next course. The decor and music was on point, hip and trendy without being over done. But the food...the food was heaven. I can’t say enough about the scallop dish I had as my entree...perfectly seared, seasoned, proportioned, delicately arranged, I ate every bite. The sauce was luscious with the perfect balance of sweet, earthy and heat on the back end. My husband said his duck was prepared to perfection. I tasted his sweet potato pure which was so silky. The deserts were very tasty...the crumb crust tasted buttery, salty with a hint of sweet. The key lime was wonderful tart. All in all we can’t wait to go back. So glad to have this fabulous gem of a restaurant in our capital city!

Our time at Dumbo's was okay...the food was good. Our server left a bit to be desired, she came to our table and never introduced herself and we felt sort of rushed to place our order. We weren't welcomed as first time customers, she didn't offer menu suggestions...nothing was done to make us want to go back. Overall I would rate the food a 3 and the service a 0.
I have to also include that I loved the decor!

And we are willing to give Dumbo's another try...grateful that the owner took out the time to personally contact me and that listened and even cared enough to reach out. That alone deserves 5 ⭐

I’ve eaten there a couple of times. Innovative, not afraid to walk out “without a net” - some good , some moderate - BUT the brisket braised and served on grit cake (which is apparently sauteed briefly to crisp the outside, which prevents it from becoming mush) earns forgiveness for any dish which still needs working on. This is a serious place - they are trying so many things, god bless’em for being fearless. SUPPORT THESE FOLKS - very good now, potentially legendary. ????4⭐️And easily can be more - they got guts!

I had the Deviled eggs, boudin, and chicken sandwich. Ashamed to say I ate EVERYTHING! Delicious! All of the staff were great. Friendly and attentive. Kudos to Paul for such a wonderful establishment.

ORDER THE CHOCOLATE TART! It was by far the best chocolate tart I have ever had. As far as the other menu items, they were also delicious. I ordered the fried chicken and I was not disappointed. Everything my friends ordered also looked good. Due to the popularity of this restaurant, I recommend getting there early to beat the crowd. The atmosphere is very upbeat and fun and the restaurant has beautiful decor.
