Bosun Joe's

Great old building with all of its historical charm including warts and all. I had fried shrimp and it was terrific. The service was outstanding and it was just a fun off-the-beaten path place to have lunch. Downtown Ellisville is unusual. The roads need to be paved and the exterior of the buildings all need some serious TLC, but downtown is very busy. Obviously, people love eating and shopping there.

Dont forget desert here. They have the best cakes anywhere (you can preorder whole cakes for your at home occasions). They have a good variety of food and its all good. The atmosphere and age of this history making building ALICE HOTEL is worth going. This building was prominent in the movie FREE STATE OF JONES. It was duplicated for filming in Louisiana.

Oh my!! Don't quite know where to begin... delicious, moist yet crunchy catfish, well-seasoned boiled shrimp, seafood platter complete with crispy fried oysters, those delectable hush puppies with cheese sauce, and don't even get me started on those turnip greens, all of it topped off with a slice of homemade Hershey chocolate cake. Hotel Alice is a beautifully historic venue and our waitress was so sweet. Y'all simply have to try Bosun Joe's.

Ate here twice in the last 2 weeks. The second time was a party of 11. Everything was delicious and served quickly considering the amount of food we ordered. Our waitress was fantastic both times.
