“I live within walking distance and we have been visiting this place once a week, usually for brunch. The Blondie coffee is fantastic and the food is consistently amazing. I recommend Arepas to everyone and I'm so happy they opened up near us!”

“Wonderful food. Family friendly atmosphere. Staff very attentive. (Our waitress even brought our 2 yr old grandson a toy "duckie" to entertain him while we briefly awaited our brunch to be delivered.) ❤❤????”

“BBQ was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, but good. Beer selection was basic. Cool atmosphere inside the restaurant”

“Little upscale underground bar, with an old tavern like ambiance and decor. If you don’t know where is it, turn left from the restaurant Tyler ( facing the city hall) and take the alley back ( written as one way). Then it is on the left hand side. But it’s not written anywhere. So just pull the door and take the stair down. The inside is dark and lit with mild lights and candles. We were there just for the drink and sat on the bar. Though it was crowded and fully packed on a busy weekend night, we never felt less cozy. The bartenders were nice and they know their job. We spent three hours and drank few speciality cocktails. All of them were experimental and different for me. They have a lot of food options too. I loved the place and will definitely go back again.”

“If only i could leave 10 stars! Cafe nine twenty-nine hosted our daughter’s coffee bar and wedding reception. The staff were the consummate professionals: welcoming and cheerful, yet competent, responsive and efficient. The buffet was beyond fantastic in presentation and flavor! The brisket was, hands down, the best we’d ever tasted (and we’ve tasted a lot of brisket in our lives!) Many of our guests exclaimed over the flavor. The presentation of both the coffee bar and buffet was beautiful, contributing to the quiet intimacy of the “coffee shop vibe”. As the hostess, i feel like cafe 929 offered our guests, most of whom were from the upper U.S. and Canada, a wonderful and gracious example of southern flavors and hospitality. Thank you, Cafe 929!!”

“Incredible experience always a great time! The host Megan was fantastic and very accommodating and our server (I believe his name was Ethan) was really great as well. Great service great food great drinks. If you’re in Starkville and don’t eat hear you’re missing out”

“Good place to eat and usually I’m not disappointed when I go here, but this time I was missing my favorite topping...My banana peppers were not on my pita nor my boyfriends pita. He had no bell peppers either, along with one onion...It was good, but I always get my sandwiches or wraps or pitas with Banana peppers. He wasn’t so pleased...Our experience with the Caucasian girl was AWESOME! She was my reason in coming back. This guy must’ve rushed in making it. Other than that, good food and friendly staff.”

“This was my first time eating at this restaurant! I love that it's a restaurant and a grocery store. There were lots of great menu options. Service was good, food was good, service was fast. I will definitely be back!”

“Can't say enough good things. At our table we had a power plate, shrimp pot, shrimp n grits and a hamburger. All dishes were phenomenal! Service was very friendly and attentive. Food came out piece by piece instead of all at once (negative) but everything else was A++!”

“Excellent food, staff and prices! Staff is friendly, service is quick, and the food is delicious. It is in an old building, but they have done the best they can with the ambiance and it is very clean.”

“There is no food more quintessential, in the South, than Barbeque and six restaurants in Starkville are competing for your business, and this place has won me over. When you pull up to this small, vintage filling station you are greeted with a mouthwatering aroma of meat roasting over a pecan log fire. Stepping inside, childhood memories of fried Bologna sandwiches and Moon Pies might flood your mind. There are three tables clad in red table cloths waiting for you to sit down and enjoy a good meal. The menu is basic: sandwiches or plates of all the typical Southern BBQ meats, pulled pork, ribs, chicken or sausage and fried catfish. The choice of sides are simple: homemade coleslaw, french fries, potato salad and beans loaded with BBQ trimmings. My favorite was the beans and the rib tips if we are not talking about dessert yet. If you don't have room left for dessert, you gotta take it with you: Caramel Cake baked by Yulanda herself - out of this world good! Want to stay a while? There are playing cards at the table and the owner Mike Haddix is happy to talk a while. Ask him about his career as a pro football player. There are refrigerated cases filled with Rag Bologna, different flavors of Souse, Caramel Cake and soft drinks. You can also buy a variety of quick stop items along with fishing bait (the only place to buy Minnows in Starkville) and homemade pork skins.”
