Hermann is German but not here at Zydeco. Cajun food executed well with good flavorings in just the right amount to achieve success. Not a whole lot to offer if you don’t want cajun but you know what your getting into before you walk in the door. Clean and bright interior works well and provides a good atmosphere that features the food. Now onto the not good. Our party was there on a Saturday night and it was quite busy. Chaos reigned. Everything took forever. This is all fixable but it looked like they were short on help and management. No one really running the front of the house. Wait staff was doing their best. Give this place a chance if you want good food.
We had a wonderful lunch here. Two in our group had the gumbo and raved, and one had a beautiful salad with added grilled shrimp. They had a vegan gumbo option for me which was not only amazing being a small German town, but it was also incredibly yummy! Super friendly service, very clean, and bright. Would definitely recommend!
Beautiful new eatery in town. Hopefully the owners will watch the feedback to keep improving and gain stability.
Misty was great! Very attentive, friendly and helpful. My husband loved her suggestion of the Jambalaya casserole. I really liked the Bayou wedges (potatoes with their skin intact and yummy Creole(?) cheese sauce). Generous portion and lightly deep fried for added crispness. The Wedge Salad was good. The plating almost makes it impossible to eat, though - it's way too crowded in that ridiculous bowl. Delicious house-made blue cheese dressing and the ($added$) fried chicken was nice - perhaps could use a little more seasoning.
We would definitely return!
Staff needs to be told that water pitchers shouldn't be touching the glass's rim when being refilled.
The food was yummy! I really enjoyed the crawfish bisque and red beans and rice. My husband loved the zydeco pasta. Service was great, and the establishment very clean! I would definitely come here again.
If you’re looking for something other than “German in Hermann”, this is a good alternative. The atmosphere is nice but not overly impressive.
After getting our appetizer of boudin balls that were pretty good, we shared a bowl of gumbo. Admittedly, my husband could be considered a “gumbo snob”… so it wasn’t perfect but it passed.
We shared the chicken and side of red beans and rice. They brought out the wrong side, but to their credit, they noticed before we complained and replaced it.
Over all a solid place I’d return to if in the area.
