Eggs are cooked to perfection. All of the breakfast meats are great, biscuit and cinnamon roll were top notch. Hash browns were crispy. One thing I didn’t care for was the coffee. It’s a blended coffee but has a strong nut taste.....pecan or hazelnut or something similar. Not my fave. Would have preferred to have at least has a choice. That’s the reason for not giving 5 stars. Service was pretty good, quick with the food. Pancakes seemed to be above average. Really great food.......the coffee, well, just had rather been given a choice of something without a nut flavor.
We were visiting KC and we're recommended The Mixing Bowl as a breakfast spot. It is DELICIOUS! There are vegetarian options, and the cinnamon rolls are the bomb!!! The place has a lot of character and has a fun, laid back vibe. Taylor provided EXCELLENT service and was very helpful in giving us recommendations of other KC places to visit! She and the owner Dana made a list of the best local places for us to check out and made us feel very welcomed during our visit! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best. Corned. Beef. Hash ... EVER. That's saying something for me - being that it's my breakfast standard to compare and I've been all over NYC, LA, Seattle, Detroit, and Chicago.
Beef was fork tender and juicy (probably from the brine), topped with eggs and this amazing sauce - similar to hollandaise but lighter with a hint of clove. Any more and it would have been too much - but the balance was perfect. The presentation was unassuming but I prefer that - I'd take substance and that melt-in-your-mouth-feeling any day over fluff.
The ambiance was laid back, down to earth, w plenty of sass and character. No wait but we did visit during a snowstorm. The wait staff was kind and the place definitely had a chill vibe w regulars laughing w/ staff while the KC Chiefs played on the TV screens.
I decided to try it because someone on Yelp said "flapjacks tasted like wedding cake and the waffles tasted like funnel cake." I didn't get the chance to try the waffles, but I second on the flapjacks. Will definitely be back when we visit KC again.
Very good down home food. Friendly service. Honestly was a little worried as we parked in the lot behind and coming up to the rear door entrance it didn't look very inviting. Soon as we walked in there was warm greetings and a very welcoming atmosphere.
Food was good. Could have used a bit more seasoning to be perfect is all. Once I added some salt and pepper it was quite delicious.
Kids loved it here too. They have a nifty play area that my little one enjoyed.
Super picky on my coffee and the harvest blend they offer was very good.
Amazing Crispy Hash browns. Biscuits were Fluffy and Tasty. Sausage Gravy was Disappointing (It’s basic Gravy with Sausage added after). Good Prices. Friendly Staff. Free Street Parking. Cozy Atmosphere. Saturday is all you can eat pancakes. Sunday is all you can eat biscuits and gravy. Overall a good place for a large meal, but not a high class breakfast full of flavor.
