The restaurant itself may be a bit on the shabby side, but they have installed new booths within the last several years. You'll never be disappointed with the food, though. The second photo is the delicious Pickle Spear appetizer with a side of ranch. Recently learned its under new ownership, I never did get to see it in its previous ownership. However, the new owners are doing really good things with the place and have a forward looking mindset to make everyone happy. You really need to try this place if you are in town”

“This is such an interesting building and I would have liked being able to explore more! This building was built in the early 1900's and is an historical landmark. As a restaurant, Wilder's is the oldest, continuously and locally owned restaurant in Joplin. Some of the other reviews mentioned an odor to the restaurant, and there is a light musty odor when you first walk in but I forgot all about it before even getting to the table. The decor is gorgeous, especially the detail on the ceiling and the bar, which is a focal point of the dining area. I had duck breast with a mushroom, potato, and sweet potato hash, topped with a fried egg and a side of truffle macaroni and cheese. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. Our waiter was very well-balanced in his attention to our table. Attentive but not intrusive, which showed his skill and experience. The owner also stopped by our table to thank us for coming and to check on the quality of our meal. This is a higher priced locale, so be prepared for that, but I felt that it was worth it. Would definitely recommend!”

My wife loves their gluten-free options and I always love their ever-changing specials. These folks take pride in their work and it shows in everything about their restaurant. Seating can be a little limited so get there as soon as you can, but we've also never had to wait on a table. If you're in Joplin, this is a must.”

I recommend trying it for your family as it will easily feed 4-5 people without a doubt. I ate a third to see if I could come close to eating this in the 10 minute challenge and there is just no way... amazing place to eat and great prices. A hidden jewel in Joplin.
