Small town, family owned and operated restaurant serving some amazing home cooking. Hand-breaded chicken, grilled chicken tenders, wonderful sides and cold sweet tea and lemonade are hits at this homey downtown eatery. The server is knowledgable, efficient, and friendly. The owner and staff take pride in operating a super-clean front-of-house and the food is amazing. I had the grilled chicken tenders, green beans, sweet potato fries, and unsweetened tea. The homemade buffalo and honey mustard dipping sauces were delicious complements to the meal. Don't drive through downtown Monroe City without stopping for good conversation and great food at this gem of Americana.

Stopped in for lunch today, first time there and yum! Wonderful waitress, excellent food, and great prices. Also took home a pizza for dinner and once again did not disappoint. Will definitely be back!

Was greeted with a smile and hello. The young lady that waited on me was super sweet and very helpful. I'm new to the area and this was my first time dinning here. Menu wasn't over crowded with tons of different things, but still had a good selection to choose from.
The young lady recommended the seasoned chicken with the mashed potatoes and gravy. I am so glad she did. It may not have been my momma's, but it was sure close to it. It really reminded me of being home in Alabama. I definitely will be back. If the rest of the food is has good as the chicken you have a new regular at BKS.

This place has a great selection of food on their menu but if you are looking for great fried chicken this is the place. I had the 4 piece chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. When they bring out your dinner be careful everything is hot and the chicken is just out of the fryer hot. The chicken is lightly coated, crispy and juicy with just a hint of spice. The mashed potatoes was homemade and the green beans looked like they were from a garden. For dessert I had lemon meringue pie which was awesome. I do recommend this place.
