Smokehouse Barbecue - Kansas City, MO (Zona Rosa)

In KC for 1 night near the airport, I was looking for good barbecue nearby and went to Smokehouse. Going at just after 5pm, even on a Friday, I thought I’d get right in but the place was jammed. To be seated immediately I opted for the bar and had excellent service as well as a bit of local flavor. I got the Chef’s Special for a bit of everything including burnt ends. Everything was great and, having read previous reviews, I had the barbecue sauce on the side so it was perfect, for me. The bartender who waited on me gave me good advice on the beans as a side as well as a good red wine to bring it all together. The atmosphere is nice so it’s a mystery to me why it isn’t rated higher than it is.

The inside of the restaurant was much nicer than I expected. I recommend trying the Cajun wings. They were amazing and the beans are arguably the best in KC. Will definitely be back. I just wish they had a location down south.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff was very helpful and most of all, the BBQ is like no other! Add the corn nuggets as an appetizer and you can't go wrong!

The food is consistently good. Plenty of parking. Clean rest rooms. After dinner mints. Beautiful decor inside. This one has a bar and the Apple Pie Bourbon cocktail is yummy. Their old fashioned was pretty good too. Burnt ends, ribs, cheesy corn, beans, it's all good. I have been here many times and will eat here many more.

Among the best bar-b-que I've ever had. The burnt ends and short rib were perfect, and the fried sweet corn appetizer was great although not the most affordable on the menu. The mac and cheese side was great with white creamy sauce and spiral noodles. The steak fries were solid. The wait staff at the bar was some of the best I've had. I would highly recommend.
