Salt + Smoke

Me and my fiance at the time decided that we was going to try a new BBQ place while I was down for training. When we tried this place it had only been open for 3 weeks, and I have to admit by how smooth the place ran, how friendly the staff was, how organized the restaurant was, and how updated the place was with the times I thought that this was a veteran restaurant. Needless to say we were very impressed with this restaurant. We both loved the out door setting which would target the family niche, and inside was like a bar which also reach another niche. I really like how the two was separated. The food was really good some of the best BBQ me and my fiance have had. I definitely would not have a problem recommending this restaurant to anybody. Keep up the good work and food.

Came in just to have an appetizer as an afternoon snack. The smells led us to sampling the pulled pork, hush puppies, garlic fries and fried pickles. Absolutely amazing. Will definitely add this to our list when we’re in town. And excellent service from Carly!

Just WOW! Where do I begin.. My family and I stayed in beautiful historical downtown Saint Charles on vacation the first week of August 2019, and in looking for a place to eat, Salt + Smoke was almost exactly across the street. The place looked cool, for a Thursday night there were a lot of people there so it must be good we thought, so lets give it a try. Walking in we were instantly greeted, the place had a cool vibe, great decor and smelled amazing. The waiter attended our party of 7 immediately and was fun and interactive and very knowledgeable. We placed our orders, our drinks came out shortly following and before I could get a couple sips from my beer, BOOM food was there! When I say it was fast, it was like real fast, like faster than McDonald's fast, the waiter assured me they pride themselves on how quick they serve their food. I was then rightfully so skeptical how fresh and good could it be.... Well, it was better than I could ever expect, fresh, and delicious is an understatement. Food was off the charts good, from the fries to the amazing mac and cheese to all the perfectly smoked meat, I died and went to heaven! We ate so much, we were so full but could not stop eating, and portions are plentiful! And even after eating until stuffed, I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came, what an amazing value for incredible food and service. We left being more satisfied in a restaurant then we had been in a long time! In fact, it was SO good, we ate there the VERY NEXT night, and we were just as blown away the second time. If Salt + Smoke were anywhere in a 30 mile radius our home town we would make the trip and often! Great now my mouth is watering......

The patio was gorgeous, service was excellent. All of our sides were perfectly executed (that white cheddar mac n cheese is insanely creamy with a little zip) and our pulled chicken was quite moist and flavorful. The skin on our wings was a little over cooked but the manager brought us some fresh ones from the kitchen and they were perfect.
After trying all the different sauces, my favorite was the sweet. It could honestly stop traffic. We will most certainly be back for more!

I haven't reviewed somewhere in quite a few months, because nothing has really made me want to. But oh my goodness is this place good! The brisket us a must have. The rub on it is simply divine. Order your brisket with a little bit of fat on it and you won't regret it. The Cole slaw is not your standard mayo based one. It's vinegar based but with actual flavor. And the sweet potato chips? Delicious. If you're looking for something a little lighter, look no further than the cherry smoked salmon. Light, delicious, and refreshing, it won't leave you walking away feeling gross. It was good old fashioned barbecue, but didn't leave you feeling full of grease. I would recommend to anyone wanting good barbecue, a beautiful historic view, or even just a glass of bourbon.
