Woofie's Hot Dogs

Hot dogs and STL history... what a combination. My wife had the junkyard dog and I had the New York dog, and we split a jumbo cheese fries. Everything was tasty. The only gripe I found was that the size of the actual hot dogs was smaller than I expected. As a result, the taste of the dog was overpowered by the toppings. This isn't terrible, as the toppings are great... I just would have liked more beef frank flavor.

Woofie's is a Saint Louis landmark that we had never visited. The walls are lined with autographed pictures of (mostly local) celebrities. Service was polite and reasonably prompt. We had the Coney, which is a hot dog on a bun, smothered in chili, with raw onions and a pickle. The chili was the only letdown. It was just okay. Everything else was very good.

Woofie's is a St. Louis must!

In your hand you will be holding that soft bun wrapped around your warm dog. To delight you, you'll see they added a few sport peppers, fresh tomato slices, Chicago relish and sprinkled it with diced onions. With great anticipation, that first bite will explode in your mouth. An exhilarating moment you won't soon forget. As that juicy burst of fabulous flavor slides down the back of your throat you'll wonder in your thoughts, 'could it ever get better than this'? Oops, you've got a little relish dribbling off your lip.

When you can't get to Chi-town to get that delicious 100% Vienna Beef Chicago Style Dog you've been craving, you can always get one at Woofie's.

We moved from outside of Chicago and these dogs taste just like home. The nice lady gave our ???? 2 plain hotdogs that were gobbled up in about a minute. ???? We will be going again. If our dog ever runs away we know exactly where to look for her now.

LONG TIME in business. Changed owners recently but still pretty good food, though they have cut back on some things. Chili Dog has more sauce and less meat - and dog is smaller. Staff works hard to please every customer. Good to support a local family business when you can.
