J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood St. Louis

This was the first time that my husband and I dine here at J Gilbert’s. Our meal was amazing, the atmosphere was great. Charlie our waiter was awesome. The crab cake and Maryland Crab Bisque was too die for. We will be back. Again Charlie thanks for making our 1st experience great.

This evening was our first experience, I made a reservation online for my boyfriends birthday and requested a booth. Not only did they give us a booth, they gave us THE booth located under the wall fire place, absolutely beautiful!! Our waiter was knowledgable, friendly, down to earth, and all of the servers worked like a well oiled machine. We HIGHLY suggest the crab cakes. Our steaks were amazing and we will definitely be back. Thank you for giving my boyfriend a top notch meal and experience!!

I suggest reservations and ask that Michael be your server. He was delightful, efficient and just so nice. The food was delicious. I ordered from the prix-fixe menu: tomato salad (seasonal, I think), 4 ounce filet with the maple shrimp which includes mashed potatoes and asparagus, just delicious and beautifully plated. My husband ordered the seafood mixed grill which he truly enjoyed and with bread was more than enough for him. I was so sated that I couldn’t eat dessert and Michael suggested he have it packed to go for me. Our only complaint was that it was so loud, but we noticed that by 8:00 on a Thursday night the noise had subsided.

The vibe here is great, I never think I'm in the mall area. As a bonus, Daniel shakes a mean martini with a thin layer of ice on top. Their happy hour is fantastic and steaks are delicious! New friends always love it.

I love this place. The service is usually great, and the food was phenomenal. Both the steaks ordered in our party were fantastic; very extremely flavorful and crazy tender. And while this is a steakhouse, their salmon is utterly incredible. We usually get the prix fixe, which usually works out for us. The salad is always tasty and I really love the chocolate cake with raspberry ice cream.
