My group came here for a bit of day drinking. Wound up staying for 7 hours and had two meals here. The food is incredible! Make sure to try the smoked turkey sandwich, you'll thank me later. The drinks were great and the staff was even better. This place has instantly become one of my favorite spots in St. Louis.

I absolutely love this place. The pastrami is the best brisket I've had since the Capitalist Pig closed. Good fries. That's all I've ever had there, buy I'll be back for those. Vegetarian-friendliness: Pretty good, but no vegetarian BBQ. Come on, St. Louis. How hard is it to smoke some tempeh with a really good sauce?

I waited for a long time to be able to go to this lovely restaurant and I finally got to do it on my birthday. First thing I noticed was the very inviting atmosphere of this amazing bar and the smell of freshly smoked BBQ in the air. After being seated we where greeted by a wonderful server and she brought us the drink menu. Now as much as I wanted to have a alcoholic beverage for my birthday I was enticed by the restaurants non alcoholic drinks. One being made with Earl grey tea and looking like a beer. Then we ordered our food and It was love at first sight. The smoked wings nearly brought a tear to my eye. The of the bone rib sandwich was incredible and the smoked turkey leg was a sight to behold. On top of that all of the sides were amazing. All in all The Midwestern is one of the TOP BBQ restaurants in the Downtown St Louis area and they are definitely giving all the others a run for their money.

Just a snack before the cards game. Smoked deviled eggs (they were lacking a bit of zip, so I suggest drizzling the honey mustard style sauce on the table to them). Bone marrow were on point, and not lacking marrow like some restaurants. The smoked trout was more egg than trout, still tasty. Looking forward to going back and trying more items on the menu that I saw others enjoying!

Ribs had a good rub, but were dry and lack smokey flavor. Brisket was juicy but a bit on the fatty/greasy. Mac and cheese, potato salad were awesome, but the beans were a little sweet but fantastic. Fried green tomatoes were delicious. Service was a bit slow from the waitress not sure why the restaurant was a quarter full. I absolutely loved the wide Bourbon and whiskey selection. The music also quite enjoyable. probably go back in a month
