Best wings in Omaha area. They’re crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Smoked too! Best sauces!
The food is incredible....most of the time. Although 9/10 times are great, on occasion my ribs will be tough and unflavorful, and brisket will be tough.
Unsure about the inconsistency, i know these things happen. But overall a very good BBQ joint.
It had great service and a great atmosphere. I'm from Kansas City where things taste different. The burnt ends were chewy but tasted fine. Just a preference choice for me. I would try it again though.
My family and I had a brief lunch here while on our way through town; we were just out and about exploring Western Omaha on a snowy January day, and were debating fast food when we saw a sign for this corner restaurant in the old downtown of the village of Elkhorn. And, we found a corner-of-the-prairie experience we will pleasantly remember. Excellent BBQ sandwiches with creamy coleslaw and beans--and the establishment's regionally famous whiskey-flavor BBQ sauce, satiated our appetite. Friendly staff seated us in a booth and quickly took our order. Very comfortable atmosphere for families and couples. An antique looking Western-prairie bar presents itself at the entrance (with those cloudy mirrors behind the liquor that you might expect to see in a John Wayne movie). The bar would provide great seating for those traveling solo. My children, wife and I on the other hand, we packed into the spacious booths and immediately noticed the rustic brick walls lined with hunting exploits--black bear, pheasant, elk, and bison. "I think it is looking at you!" My children giggled to each other. "No that one--Buffalo, right dad?--he's looking at you!" Boyd & Charlie's was a worthy stop for a traveling family. We intend to return, when we find ourselves passing this way again.
