As someone who grew up with this type of food I was excited to know that this restaurant existed. Walking in you quickly realize how small the restaurant is. The kitchen is visible and you can see the cooks making the food. I ordered the "Desayuno chapín" which came with a small piece of beef, two eggs (cooked however you want), 2 fried plantains, refried beans, a small slab of white cheese, and a small cup of cream. As a side I also ordered the "atole de elote."
Everything was delicious. I was impressed by how well the eggs were made. The meat was nicely season. The plantains were perfectly sweet and the refried beans tasted fresh. The overall quality of the dish was exemplary. The atole tasted nice and hot. It went perfectly well with the rest of the food.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It's a bit small and the ambiance isn't the best, but it's the food the defines this place. 5/5 for food. 3/5 for ambiance.
I like Salvadorian food and am always looking for a new place that serves it. I stumbled across this one and boy am I glad I did! Not too fancy but boy were the pupusas GOOD! They marinate the cabbage topping for the pupusas and the flavor is to die for. Pupusas are also larger than other restaurants on average so this place is a great value for the money. Highly recommended.
Really Fresh and the good price point!
I give Chiltepes 5 stars because of the quality of the food. It is fresh and worth the little bit of a wait. They were very busy. Which is great, this is what keeps the business alive. Chiltepes- keep things just the way it is. Thank you!
