Art & Soul is a nice concept, but I thought that signing up for a pricey cooking class would involve more actual cooking. Unfortunately, the majority of the class that I attended involved communally cooked dishes, with the chef merely asking for audience participation - "Who wants to crack the egss?" "Who wants to add the flour?" This made it feel like more of a demonstration than a cooking class, as I was hoping that I would have the chance to follow along and make everything myself. Luckily we were all able to work on our own entree at the end (pounding and frying pork schnitzel), but this was the only part of the process that everyone got to do on their own. I was disappointed by the experience.
It was a fantastic evening, was a little crowded as the session was over booked, but we had a great time.
Participated in a cooking class that was an absolute blast. Enjoyed delicious food and came away with incredible recipes. Definitely worth the time.
Excellent treat. So fortunate to live close by.
The classes at Art & Soul are fun for groups but aren't especially informative. The chef chooses three or four recipes for the class to create and everyone takes turns executing each step of the recipe. There isn’t a lot of insight as to *why* you are doing anything or how it affects the final outcome. I’ve taken three classes here and almost every dish was incredibly bland because we waited to season the food until the very end of preparation. The classes may be good for complete novices but if you have any experience in the kitchen at all, it’s not worth your money.
