the food and service was excellent. my guest impression was that nobody cleans the front door glass my last impression was why are the employees using the handicap restroom stall when the other is open..and I as a handicap person had to wait.
Tonight was our second time at Moritomo. It's an interesting place. The food is excellent but the atmosphere and wait staff is a bit odd and seemed poorly managed. I would like to experience their hibachi and private dining rooms. Small separate rooms with paper walls, no shoes allowed. It looks very novel! In the main dining room, where we've eaten both times, the tables are crammed together. It seemed like nobody knew who was responsible for what tables and the guests are all very close together. No private conversations here! Service was prompt but we were asked 3 times if anyone had taken our drink order AFTER we placed it. There seemed to be a swarm of servers looking for a table to wait on. Overall, we were happy with the experience. Everything was delicious, prompt, and correct. The staff was friendly and seemed to be skilled. We'll go back but perhaps with tempered expectations. Again, not bad by any means but unlike anywhere else we've been.
This hole in the wall Japanese restaurant and bar is so quaint and surprised me with how flavorful their tempura sauce was, how neatly packed their sushi was, and how beautifully their mixed drinks were served. There was a particular patron that diluted the experience by talking very loudly at the bar. Also, Moritomo would do well to clean their from sign or get a new one.
The experience was simply wonderful. From being seated in one of the private rooms, to the quick and punctual service, to having a beautifully displayed tray of sushi. Everything was both simple, yet lovely. I enjoyed every variation of sushi served to us. Not only was I satisfied, but the meal made me feel refreshed. I hope to make this one of my regular places to visit when craving Japanese cuisine.
I've yet to have a bad meal here. The staff are friendly, the food is great, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The sushi has always tasted fresh, and it's fun to watch the chefs at the bar work their magic. If you like sushi or Japanese style food, this is a good place to try out.
