Was a bit hesitant to try this restaurant as some of the recent reviews were pretty harsh. In my reading management had responded to the criticism and I figured we would try it out as the location worked well on our drive home.

Dinner on a Monday night had a pretty full house. Started with the onion rings and really enjoyed the homemade taste. Multiple items on the menu were out of stock and my friend needed to switch up his order because of that. I ordered shrimp tacos and waitress was able to work with the kitchen to make sure they weren’t too spicy for my taste. Unfortunately the corn tortillas completely split so that was a bummer. But the highlight was the ice cream - kiddie size is bigger than a softball. But waitress brought it in a to go container so there is more for later.

Went to the original restaurant side of Johnson's restaurant in Northwood today. There are two restaurants on the property: the brewery side, where they serve pizza and wings and, of course, libations, in a casual, clean, open concept atmosphere, and the original restaurant, where you can get a wide variety of food and drinks and sit at booths or tables. One of the people I was with ordered the three tacos plate, with one of each shrimp, steak, and haddock. He said it was excellent. I had a large garden salad with chicken tenders on it and honey mustard dressing which was also excellent. Another person had the Garden wrap. And the other person had a Prime rib steak and cheese on a brioche bun. The onion rings and fries were crispy and delicious! Everyone loved their meals. The service was awesome and the food seemed very fresh.

Great food, and an even better server! Waitress with rose tattoo on her arm (didn't get her name) was superb. My restaurant-manager wife had NO complaints, which is rare. We'll certainly return.

We treat ourselves to the ice cream at Johnson's fairly regularly. The serving sizes are HUGE so plan accordingly. A kiddie size is at least 4 scoops (one flavor allowed) and is about $5. They serve Gifford's ice cream flavors and have quick, friendly service at the ice cream counter. Eating outside is pretty much in the parking lot under a pavilion roof. The road out front is pretty busy.
