Typical traditional Indian place. They have well maintained menu. Food was good and authentic and service was fast.

Absolutely fantastic! I’ve been here twice this summer and am eager for more. In fact, it’s the only restaurant I’ve been to in Portsmouth. When I dined here in late June, I ordered the duck chile with a heat level of 8 and yesterday I ordered the goat chili with a heat level of 10. That said, Durbar Square Restaurant allows you to choose a spice level from 1 to 10. Isn’t that great? The chefs will be sure to prepare your food to whichever level you’d like. Both times I dined here, the food was cooked wonderfully and I enjoyed every bite of it. If you love the really spicy food, try the mango lassi - it’s not too sweet and it’s just enough to balance the heat from your meal. Most importantly, all of the servers are very nice and the owner is always present, genuinely kind to his customers, and eager for feedback. Next time I’m in Portsmouth, I will be back to try another dish at this outstanding restaurant.

So I just stopped in for a snack. Didn't try a whole lot on the menu, but it was very good. I definitely suggest the Momo and will be heading back for some more myself. The food was fair both in price and serving size. The building was old but that's to be expected in such a location, views upstairs were great and so wasn't the staff. Not overly friendly but that suits me well.
Also a lot of great vegan options if you're interested.

Excellent service. Food was just okay, wouldn't go back. Food was unique. Like range of spiciness. Towards end of meal whole table got whiff of something and all began sneezing.
