Smokeshow Barbeque Portsmouth

We discovered this little gem a little while ago and stop in for lunch whenever we are in the area. Great BBQ choices of ribs, brisket, turkey etc with yummy sides. Unpretentious decor but all of the staff makes it a point to stop by, ask about the food and sometimes just chat. Not easy to see from the road as it is in a strip mall with another building blocking the site line from the road but definitely worth the effort to look for the big BBQ sign over the door.

I had the ribs and brisket. Both were excellent. This is what I look for in BBQ; smoky, cooked just right, with a subtle rub. I had the collards and cole slaw sides, which are also great. The Cole slaw has no sugar and lots of celery seed, which I appreciate. Very welcoming staff. Good beer selection.

First time going. Great service great sauces great ribs. They weigh the ribs in front of you. Gave me sampler sauces to try. All good. Small sides are bigger than I would of expected which made it even better. Id definitely be back. Thank You!

Much better than I was expecting. Meats sold by the pound, good selection of sides. Had the Finn Jack Frito Pie. Mine with the house meat mixture, my wife had brisket. Great choice. Two guys in the kitchen great help for a couple first timers. Thank you.

Always great food! The brisket is very smoky and tender. They have always been welcoming, on every visit we have made. The sauces are unique, and homemade from what they tell me. The menu is very straight forward. Easy to get carried away and order more than can finish in one sitting.
