I’ve been coming to the Inn of Cape May with my family for over 13 years now. I honestly really like how they’ve renovated everything to feel more modern with the rooms and lobby. We stayed there this past weekend. BUT I have to complain about one thing of course. The “lifeguard” at the pool (or whatever his job is). He is so RUDE and NASTY to the patrons. Yesterday when I was at the pool with my mom and dad, my mom forgot that she was supposed to give him our room number to check us in. I was telling him our room number, but he was so fixated on my mom ignoring him. He goes, “YO YO YO YO I need your room number!!!!” Sir chill it’s not that deep and it was never that serious. And then another time this group of people were talking amongst themselves on where they should return the towels. As they were leaving he shouts at them, “YOU HAVE TO RETURN THE TOWELS!!!” The fact that he was assuming they were not going to return the towels already reveals what kind of person he is. Another instance was when two patrons were trying to take the umbrellas down because I guess they didn’t want to have shade anymore, which is understandable. As you probably guessed already, this guy shouts across the pool loudly, “HEY HEY HEY YOU CAN’T TAKE THOSE DOWN, THEY DON’T GO DOWN!!!!!” I understand that there are rules at a pool (I was a lifeguard myself for 2 years) BUT there is a way you need to go about certain cases when enforcing the rules. Shouting across the pool as if people are committing a crime is so unnecessary.

We loved the look and old charm of this beautiful Victorian hotel.
    - The location was perfect. We enjoyed the beach and were able to walk to shops and dining.
    - I understand that renovations take time and I was happy to have a room with TVs for the kids.
The rooms are BARE, really needs some wall art or something. It had a very sterile feel to it. Also it was advertised as a queen bed and it was definitely a full size. A mini fridge would be a good idea to put in the rooms as well.
    - We we’re disappointed that the bar area didn’t stay open. We were celebrating our anniversary and had to go to Congress Hall to celebrate. Congress Hall was packed, had entertainment, and was a great time.

My husband and I just stayed at the Inn this past weekend and we honestly had a great experience! I was a little nervous based on some recent negative reviews, so I wanted to set the record straight.

This is an old Victorian hotel which the new owners have been updating. It has more of a modern coastal vibe now in the decor and they did a great job in the lobby, porch, & restaurant! Every single employee we encountered, from the parking attendant to the front desk was so friendly & eager to help. The hotel is in an ideal location- we walked everywhere!

We arrived early, our room was not ready as we expected but we were able to use the pool & got our beach badges so we were grateful for that!

Now on to the rooms which I think has been getting the most negative feedback. We booked a King Ocean View, which is exactly what we got. Our room was updated as shown in the pictures, great AC unit, and very comfortable bed. Yes- there was no TV or coffee maker. But I personally did not feel I needed this, we barely spent any time in the room. The bathroom didn’t appear to get the same updates as the room- just some extra white paint on everything (even the door knobs?) My only critiques would be to add some extra hooks in the bathroom for towels, and maybe some blackout curtains to help with the sunlight in the morning. But otherwise, the bathroom was functional with good water pressure.

Overall- we would definitely stay here again!

We have been coming to Cape May for 14 years and finally stayed here! It didn't disappoint! Clean rooms, comfy beds...and lots of towels! The entire staff was wonderful to us! Very accommodating! And the food was fabulous! Close to shopping and restaurants.
