Mayer's Tavern

My first visit to Mayer's was on May 4. We got there right at opening time so we were able to have our pick of seats. The service was very good. Three of us out of a party of four, ordered the scallops which were delicious. The fourth person got the sea bass special of the day which he enjoyed. There isn't much space inside so it is best to get there early. There is no where to hang out if you decide to wait for a table when the tables and bar are full.

Being a non-seafood person for the most part, I came in with low expectations as the girls were eager to get more of the local flavor.

Lo and behold, I had what might have been the best burger I have ever eaten. BTW, the girls loved the oysters (both raw and broiled with Pimento cheese) and the scallops.

Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place more when you visit Cape May.

Great place, wonderful atmosphere, and delicious seafood. But, Mayer's, could you PLEASE add at least a veggie burger to your menu so that I can persuade a few friends to come to your place with me? I would come much more often if you had a few more things they can eat. A veggie burger and maybe one larger salad option would really increase your business! Thanks!

Best Scallops Around!!! We've loved Mayers Tavern through the last 35 years or so..and have gone there specifically for their scallops. Well, be happy to know that it's still a venue to get fabulous scallops. Not to mention unique cocktails and farm fresh food offerings. Friendly wait staff and a snazzy atmosphere, you must make this a go to stop while in Cape May!
