My friends and I went the Stockton Inn on Saturday. We haven't been there since it reopened. What a difference - the place looked fabulous! We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait for a table. We were seated in a pretty outcove and a sweet cocktail waitress got drinks for us - she gave us a tour of the murals too! Once we were seated we had a great dinner. Oysters, crab and watermelon salad, soup, scallops and striped bass - it was all amazing! Dessert was my favorite the Chocolate Peanut Butter Napoleon. I won't wait so long to go back next time - WELL DONE STOCKTON!
Wow! Affordable fine dining with exquisite food and top notch service!! The food is phenomenal, I tried many of the signature dishes and they are all outstanding. My favorites are all of the salads, the oysters and lobster roll, the Chicken pot pie is to die for!! The owner and Chef even joined us for awhile to explain the food and recipes as well as the fascinating history of the inn. The wait staff is phenomenal, imagine never having to ask for anything because your waiter has already anticipated your every need. This is the place to go if you want to impress someone like a date or a business contact. The atmosphere is amazing, outside you can dine in the garden or near the waterfall, inside you are surrounded by amazing paintings and murals. I highly recommend this Inn for fine dining at a very reasonable price. Whatever you do, make sure you save room for their awesome desserts!!
A great romantic setting, on the night we were there they had live music and char-broiled steaks. The steaks were cooked to perfection, they're was a great wine list with reasonably priced choices and we had a great apple crisp with lemon cornbread topping. I highly recommend it!
Seating was the Charm:
Clams Casino, Surf & Turf, and Rack of Lamb all done quite well, and very much appreciated the sides (mashed potatoes and asparagus) were equally as good. Deserts were indeed excellent, especially the cheesecake. The Mousse cake has some actual black cake in it, if you're not into that sorta thing, but it was delicious. Coffee was weak and terrible and the cups they use aren't good either. Service excellent, as is the ambiance. Looks like a fun place to have an outdoor private party. I suggest they get a lobster tank to improve the surf & turf, frozen tails just doesn't cut it. Mixed drinks on the small side. There's great seating choices at this place, inside and out. $100 for two people with each person getting a drink, appetizer, meal, dessert and coffee-- so pretty good value for a soup-to-nuts experience.
