I love Bahrs. Always great service. Great food. Nice views. Fantastic in the summer... Sitting outside. It's $$$$ but so worth it! The seafood is very fresh. I haven't tried the German entrées yet... I can't get past the seafood!
It's been at the edge of Sandy Hook forever, well approaching 100 years, anyway. When a college student, one of my go to restaurants for a special date. As my children were growing up, one of a few good restaurants that enjoyed kids. They still do.
It's not fancy but it's a warm and fuzzy place, a predictably good restaurant serving a solid shore dinner and well prepared. Fall and winter, it's inside dining. Later spring and summer, it's outside dining on the dock.
Now that I'm old, my five children all over the map, raising my grand children, Bahr's Landing is still a special place in my life.
Solid, predictable; still warm and fuzzy.
And it's still one of my go into restaurants.
Attentive service at lunch. Sat us at a wonderful window table. The lunch specials felt more like dinner. Can't believe we ate as much as we did. No room for dessert. Every time we come it's a delight.
We stopped in Wednesday evening for drinks and apps at the bar. The bar area was very cozy and warm, and beautifully lighted for the Christmas season. It was a real pleasure to just sit and enjoy the cozy holiday atmosphere. Fried clam strips are always a treat here. Jeannie at the bar was a lively and entertaining host. One of our regular haunts, it's always nice to stop in!
Arriving by boat was very convenient. There was a boy on the deck that handled the boat well. The food is OK. The decorations of the place are very historic and the place was very nice to have walked around in. There is a lot to explore on foot around this area. Great in the summer!!
