Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood and Bar

The food was excellent. We went for my little cousin Birthday. We had two waiters because we was 27 deep. Our receipt got shrewd up. Giving us the wrong amount on receipt. At the end we were good. I will visit again.

My experience here at hook and reel in Union was far from good. I drove from North Brunswick which is about 30 minutes away to first have a unwelcoming bartender by the name Indigo. Soon as I sat at the bar not even 20 seconds she ask me what do I want to drink before I could get comfortable. I asked her may I have a menu first but i will take a water. Once she gave me the menu i looked through and saw they have there signature drinks. I drink black label which was not amongst there drinks so I asked for suggestions on drinks being that it was my first visit. Most bartenders are happy to try and fix something new when a customer visits an establishment. I ended up just ordering myself a black label with ginger ale. I the placed an order for crab bites, catfish sliders and fries. I asked her can I upgrade my fries to crab fries and pay the difference. She told me i could only pay for a full order. I did not complain and told her I'll take the full order because i wanted to try them. The food was decent to say the least. When i ordered a second drink instead of ginger ale she poured my drink with coca cola which is a totally different drink. It was very sweet. I told her this is coke and I had ginger ale with my original. She did change it for me which i was thankful. Once I received my bill my check was 70 dollars which was suprising. As I looked over the check she was charging me doubles on my drink. By this time she was already punched out. I told the next bartender i did not ask for doubles but I payed the bill anyway. Needless to say customer service there sucks, and I will not recommend going to the hook and reel on 965 Jefferson Avenue in Union. If you do decide to go and the Bartender is Indigo save yourself a waste of time and go to another location.

My husband and I was on a date night last night. We went to the newly opened HOOK and REEL on RT. 22. The service was great and the food was really good. I would recommend anyone to give the new place a try. Keep up the great work! God Bless You.

My husband and I ventured here one Saturday evening, and were seated right away. The hostess was very friendly and inviting. We were sat next to the bar , and that was it. No one ever came to take our order, although several staff members walked past us. With our menus closed ,we waited patiently for one of them to notice us. No one ever did, so we asked the busboy if he could find someone to take our order. A few moments later Cher came over, apologized ,and provided great service. The food was very good, and the drinks were as well. When their wait staff gets more organized, this will be a great place to dine!

If you've been to the one in West Orange. This one is NOTHING like it. Its clean with EXCELLENT customer service. The menu is explained in great detail and you are NOT rushed to make a decision. Daphne &:Sammy are EXCELLENT! They suggested a great adult beverage to a non-drinker. I will definitely be back.
