Food was great! Tons of choices for toppings on your hotdog. I ordered a fried egg, avocado, bacon hotdog and it was amazing. My partner got a fruity pie hot dog. Definitely recommend!
Absolutely love this place, and that was a surprise! They have an extensive and creative menu around hot dogs, AND a variety of dogs. I believe there is a vegan option (can’t remember). It was a quiet Saturday afternoon when we came. The staff is super friendly and the food was tasty! Some dishes were harder to eat like a traditional dog, but still tasty!!!
Great spot for a casual dinner, will absolutely be returning! We have older kids, could take younger ones here but definitely not a kid centered restaurant!
Overall, a really great and interesting place to try out! You can make some really insane hotdog combinations or keep it safe with their menu options.
The interior has a cozy circus aesthetic that is brightly colored but not garish. Despite the word clown being in the name of the business, you won't be scared away by an abundance of clowns smiling at you while you eat.
We were greeted at the door as we walked in, and we got both food and drink right away. The menu presented some very interesting options right off the bat. Each of their signature dogs starts off with a description that might not turn heads, but three or four toppings in and you know immediately why the parlor is named Clowndog. They're wild! But somehow it works, and you won't regret anything you order.
I ordered two dogs - the Dog of the Day and the Tattooed Lady. Both were good, but the Tattooed Lady surprised me with its excellent combination of tastes. It was a culinary adventure and I couldn't put my dog down until I finished it all.
Simply wonderful, 10/10 will clown some dogs again.
Cheers to the vegan hot dogs! This is the first time since I stopped eating meat that I’ve been able to enjoy a Chicago dog. My only regret is that I didn’t order two. Our group also had the cheese dog, Hawaii 505, fries, chile tots, and vegetarian frito pie dog. I’m so excited to go back.
