    Wow.

We weren’t sure what to expect based on the photos. The menu sounded good but slightly pricey, so with the photos and that combined we were hesitant.

I am not kidding when I tell you this was some of the best service, best drinks, and best food I have had in a very long time, if ever.

The duck fat fingerling potatoes were buttery, salty, and rich. Just perfection. Very slightly crisped on the outside and smooth and creamy on the inside. The house made garlic aioli was the best I have ever tasted.

The frog legs were very good and very well presented. I had never had frog before, so nothing to compare them to, and I have to say I had a bit of a mental block since I love frogs a lot. But I wanted to try them and I’m glad I did, they were delicious! The sauce and blue cheese complimented them well.

Lastly, the bone marrow. I love bone marrow and always eat the end of my chicken bones to get to the marrow. My dad used to buy marrow bones. I’ve wanted to try it from a restaurant for a really long time, but nobody ever wanted to try it with me. Finally I got to have it and it was 10x better than I ever could have imagined. It really brought me back to when my dad used to make it for me. A huge nostalgic boost, and to help alleviate how much I miss my dad since he passed away a little over a year ago.

My compliments to the chef, my sincere thanks to the servers who were wonderful and welcoming. Loved this place, would recommend it to anyone and would 100% come back.

The staff was very polite and the atmosphere was inviting. I was admittedly intimidated by the menu due to the high end ingredients and offerings that aren't seen in most places in the area. Still I wa happy with my selections. The cocktails were complex and delicious.

I LOVE GATHER!! I haven’t been since it opened, I came last Saturday and I loved it!! The bartender Austin suggested a whiskey sour and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! I was planning on having a drink and leaving but Austin was so fun and sweet to be around i didn’t want to leave!! He brings such a great energy to the bar, he is definitely the reason I will be coming back. I wasn’t planning on coming back soon but after this experience i definitely have to! If you come ask for Austin!! All of the staff was amazing but Austin made it an unforgettable experience. He is an amazing bartender!

A Hidden Gem indeed! Recently opened Gather at Nob Hill wowed me on my first visit. After chatting with co-owner Dustin and sampling a couple of his preferred wines (don't miss the Vinho Verde), I settled on a proper Negroni that was lighter than expected: I think it was owing to the gin that was used (which has now sadly escaped my memory).

I started with the Baked Potato, which had me slightly confused as it is described as a confit - didn't get a chance to ask Chef Joe about that before I left (update: my fault on being confused about this preparation - Googled it for clarification) . However, the tender, creamy cylinders of Yukon Gold were cored out to allow the sharp and tangy Cheddar Foam to bathe all its surfaces - Molecular Gastronomy without all the fussiness and pretension.

Next came the Chicken Croquettes: a mini Mountain of perfectly crispy spheres, with a snowy cap of finally microplaned parmesan, that yielded a creamy, spicy center full of shredded chicken. Just yummy.

For dessert, I recommend you use your fingers to enjoy the Matcha Cake, as it is a tactile playground: spongy air cake, crunchy almond brittle, silken lemon curd, and somehow crispy white chocolate morsels.

I'm not great with the descriptors of ambience, but I can tell you that I was comfortable eating alone at the bar and the staff was personable, professional, and knowledgeable . . . On a variety of subjects including those outside the restaurant venue - thanks for the helpful tips, Kelsi !

I've already decided on the lineup of small plates that I'll try at my next visit, and it will be sooner than later.
