The Mine Shaft Tavern & Cantina

We stopped by on our way along the Turquoise Trail. It definitely has a bar/tavern atmosphere and everyone was friendly. The Hatch Green Chili Basket is an awesome appetizer if you are looking for New Mexico flare (and great taste!). Their Mad Chili Burger is awesome! I got mine rare/medium rare as suggested and it melted in my mouth. The Mad Chili Margarita and Prickly Pear Margarita are also scrumptious!

Once in a while we take a nice ride to Madrid. If we feel like something to eat, this place is usually the choice. The food is great and the staff are very friendly. Today Tina was our waitress and she made us feel like family.

Great ambiance and tasty food. We sat in the Tavern as the Cantina was no longer serving food. Enjoyed a plate of ribs, brisket, baked beans and potato salad; my partner tried their award winning green chili burger and LOVED it! The battered and fried green chili is the Best and definite must try.

We got the mushroom Swiss buffalo burger with sweet potato fries. Simply put the patty was amazing the toppings were an excellent fit and the sweet potato fries were a cherry on top. We also tried the prickly pear lemonade, this needs the ice to melt but once you get past the face imploding from the sour its very tasty. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The entire town is cute with a fun atmosphere.

I visited the Mine Shaft Tavern & Cantina on a Saturday night at 7:30pm. The atmosphere was amazing! Soft country folk music greeted us as we our waitress sat us at a table. The food, entertainment, and service were excellent. It was busy but our waitress made sure we had our drinks and food right away. I was impressed with the entire experience. Stop here for a beer or a burger and you will find yourself planning a return trip before you know it. Thank you for giving me and a special someone an evening to remember.
