An annual tradition for many families, we make the trek down to the Middle of Nowhere to eat buckwheat pancakes with the house made maple syrup and a side of fresh eggs, sausage and ham! Delicious! I get a years supply of syrup while I'm there cause the grocery store stuff is not Real maple syrup like this is. You can watch how they make it in the basement but it's only mildly interesting. Worth the drive from Rochester at least once in the two months that it is open each year. Go early or go late, always be prepared to queue up in the cold. Approx 90 minute drive from the city. On the way back, visit some cute antique shops in Mt Morris. Be on the lookout for Amish buggies, you will pass several Amish farms on the way to Cartwrights. Not a bad way to spend a day with the family, you won't regret it!
Great place for some homemade maple syrup and endless pancakes! It was a cold and frosty wait to get inside but the line moved fairly quickly. Once inside it is warm and inviting with a friendly atmosphere. We even had a visit from the owner as we were enjoying our pancakes making sure that everything was delicious. Overall a great place to take the family.
staff is always nice. food is always yummy. they are quick at bringing out the next sets of pancakes if you have a larger group so you don't have to wait long. there is a large variety of maple products and they are cash only so be sure to bring extra money. you will likely leave wanting to buy syrup, candy, tea or pancake mix.
Delicious buckwheat pancakes, real maple syrup, with ham and sausage. Sausage tastes and looks homemade. Next time I will forgo the ham. Went on Sat around noon. Plan to be on line 30-45 minutes. Faster seating for parties of 2-4. Once seated , the friendly service was fast, and it only took 15 min to be served. They are very organized to handle the crowds. Be sure to go downstairs to see the maple syrup production. We stocked up on Maple syrup at the gift shop!
Maple syrup to die for, all you can eat buckwheat pancakes, only open from February to April and packed the whole time. Worth the drive and the wait. You will not be disappointed. It is a lesson in attention to detail, striving for quality, and efficient and accurate service. We sat at the counter and were just amazed. Do yourself a favor and put it on your list of things to do.
