Many years ago, Woodlawn Beach was not a pretty picture with weeds, sludge and a steel plant right next to it. The plant is gone, replaced by windmills and the beach is long , wide, deep and beautiful. What a transformation. This is what government can do when it is run for the benefit of the people by someone other than a nut case. Visit Woodlawn Beach, it is a great place to relax.

When I grew up in the 60's my family bought a bsckyard pool since swimming in Lake Erie was nasty. Without yhe steel plant. The water is much cleaner and the state did a nice job creating this park. I love the broadwalk to the beach a short nature walk that did not diistroy the wetlands that lead to the shore. Once on the beach it is well groomed sand well guarded and very clean. Western New York has gotten so much nicer since the late 70's.

I think this beach is not what many people remember, totally updated and very family friendly during the day. Crowd changes to more party friendly in evening. Something for everyone

The beach spans a large area on Lake Erie. There are lifeguards and there is a bar and food on site. It is a little bit of a hike from the parking lot, but it is boardwalk style with stairs and ramps. The beach is rocky but the water has a great expanse of shallow areas with rick free sand. Fee of $7 per car.

The beach is okay. Parking is very reasonably priced. There are designated areas for supervised swim and the lifeguards were very good. There are a lot of rocks which it makes it painful to walk along where the water breaks without shoes. Once you wade in up to your thighs you hit sand again and it's not so bad. The playground has been removed. The bathrooms were well stocked but quite dirty. The water was warm but it isn't the cleanest, it's very cloudy. The kids had fun, but I think I prefer the cold ocean to the warmer lake if it means soft sandy beaches.
