Black Bear Restaurant

Good place. Reuben was on point. Drinks awesome. I would have given 5, but the fries. While they were good. We like our fries crunchy. They weren't soggy. But they could have used a little crunch. Typical bar fries. Sysco or US foods? Cole slaw a little bland also. Will definitely stop back for the Reuben when were in town.

This is a very nice restaurant which is easily accessible in downtown lake placid. The restaurant has a really nice ambience (besides lacking extensive bear decor) and is right along side mirror lake. The food itself is actually very good. My SO and I shared an appetizer which was definitely home made, but not all that great, but both of our seafood entrees were incredible.

Salmon & bread were good. But Promise margarine instead of butter or olive oil for the bread?? Service a little erratic. Best for casual meal after a day of hiking or biking. No atmosphere unless you sit on the deck which has a lake view. Interior decor needs a major refresh.

Food was delicious and plentiful. My husband had the black bear chicken and was happy with the selection. I had the rainbow trout which was delicious. The homemade bread was great. The covered porch was nice, being outside even as storms were passing by was a treat. The service was kind and thoughtful.
