This place never changes and the prime rib is still very good. As a foodie and a philosopher of quality steak, you cannot go wrong w PL! Makes you feel like you’re in a movie when you enter the restaurant. The owners always come greet me. Staff and food are worthy of a drive to Brooklyn.
Very happy to have crossed this off my bucket list. A friend an I gave walking in a shot and the guy at the front told us to come back just before 10 and that he would seat us. True to his word, he got us a seat and this New York institution is worth every penny. Extraordinary experience.
Amazing, yes it is a steak house, and the menu is similar to other steakhouses. But, here they get it exactly right! From limited choices to proper portion sizes for the sides. They do steaks, and they do them perfectly. Service is the best and I believe the prices you pay are reasonable.
Worth every penny. Staff were exceptionally friendly and conversational with everyone. Food was incredibly good. Don’t focus on price, just focus on having a great time. And definitely try the strudel.
Peter Luger was the highlight of our trip to New York. The rustic yet sophisticated atmosphere and the service minded and good humored waiters made this an unforgettable experience.
You get a time slot for eating. Our slot was from 12:45 AM to 13:15 PM. At exactly 12:45 AM our table was announced. From there on, an efficient but not in any way rushing service was delivered. The waiters are professional and we felt we were guided through the dinner.
The appetizer was a piece of Peter Luger signature bacon.
Main course was a steak-for-2, their signature steak.
For desserts we ordered the Pecan Pie and the Apple Strudel with whipped cream.
This is definitely a place we will return to the next time we come to New York. From all the good and great restaurant and dining places we visited on our one week trip, this was by far the best - and then we're counting in a 2 star Michelin restaurant on Times Square as well.
An added piece of information is that they last had a Michelin star in 2015. We were not aware this had even been a Michelin restaurant but I'm surprised they don't have the stars yet. In our opinion they definitely deserve them.
We rolled out of the restaurant...
