Fresh Start Marketplace

I have not gone grocery shopping here. I usually come for lunch since they have a hot and cold bar of food, and a wide array of sandwiches in the back deli. There is also a hidden gem of prepared foods across the dessert packages from the in-store bakery, with plenty of vegan options, salmon, spaghetti and meatballs, and even sushi.
The sushi is honestly a bit overpriced for what you could get otherwise. It's not mind blowing sushi either. Depending on who you talk to that has eaten it in an actual restaurant, it probably won't hold up in quality. You shouldn't be coming here for sushi anyway though.
Their cold bar has pasta salad and normal salad. There is sometimes an option for sesame dressed noodles, which are very tasty and filling.
In the hot section, there are always spicy fried chicken wings. The array there changes daily otherwise. They have decent beef stew, corned beef, potatoes, roast vegetables, even fish. You can get pre-made hot meals with rotisserie chicken or steak.
The staff are helpful and you get your napkins and utensils at the cashier. Prices are alright.

There is a strong smell that permeates the back of the store. It even sinks into the plastic of the milk cartons.

Update: The store has been a lot cleaner recently so I’ve increased the rating.

Vege and fruits are very fresh and has lots of varieties. Breads looked fresh and yummy. I got 3 different kinds of them.

Visited this place after a few years to buy a small cake as a gift. Sadly the quality appears to have declined. When previously, a cake was packaged beautifully in a neat white cake box, this time it was placed in a plastic clamshell container, street vendors serve their clients food in. Sad!

Needless to say, the recipient only ate a few bites and threw the cake away. Double sad!

They have a good selection of stuff that you might not otherwise find in the neighborhood. Stuff is sometimes hard to find, but people are always happy to help you find things. It's also a little expensive, but if you need it and can't find it anywhere else around, your gonna buy it... Overall a great store to have in the neighborhood.
