Rosarito Fish Shack

I was very excited to try this place but ended up having a mixed experience. The service was relatively slow but I don't mind that especially during Covid, it's very understandable. The beef Empanada was phenomenal, the dough was really exquisite. The pizza (proscuitto & burrata) was good but nothing too special - the dough on the pizza was nice though! The dish tacos were good (home made tortilla was very
nice) but also pretty tiny for $14. What really soured my experience was unfortunately the main course. I ordered the whole fish for $29 and was served two branzino fish filets with 5 spears of asparagus. The filets were incredibly thin and overcooked, both sides of the filet were pan fried for so long that the fish held its shape like a fish stick. The fish was fresh and seasoned well but only one of the very dry filets had some salsa on it. After asking the waiter about it, he apologized for forgetting to mention that they had switched from the whole fish to filets this week and offered some aioli to make the fish less dry. It's honestly such a shame to have mishandled these delicate filets that way, as well as charge me full price for it. I would first of all never have ordered this dish, had I known it was not a whole fish, but I would also have been disappointed regardless to be served two literally crunchy filets. It definitely made me question the "fish shack" part of their name. Would come back for an empanada and some drinks but not for a main..

definitely the best truffle pizza I've tried in New York City, I really recommend this place we had a great time

Good empanadas but expensive. For the price of two I can buy a dozen in el Gauchito . I guess when In williamsburg the options are limited. Good place though.

Good Mexican inspired dishes in a very cozy restaurant. Reasonable prices, good service and very calm.
