The Gate House

Arguably my favorite restaurant in Rochester and maybe even favorite restaurant anywhere! I love the goat cheese mac n cheese and even though I don't eat meat all of my friends who get burgers there seem to love their food as well. Great atmosphere and amazing food, but still reasonable prices.

Good burgers, decent beer selection. Family friendly but also has a bar. Rustic reclaimed wood decoration and chairs. Not the best eats in town but a solid choice for a night out.

Amazing salad (Highland Park, superb Mac n cheese, friendly and prompt service! I was impressed. The burger (The Galiano) was cooked to perfection, but it had a bit too much blue cheese for my taste, but I can't wait to come back and try a different one! Thank you Gate House!

Great place for burgers. Haven't really tried anything else but the burger line up is pretty sweet. I haven't had any issues here before and the staff is very attentive for all of our needs.

The wait time can be hit or miss. I've been here with a long wait time and without any wait time at all. It does get crowded, and when it does it gets a bit loud but that's nothing to really worry about.

The Gate House is in Village Gate so the parking lot is shared with the other restaurants/shops. Village Gate in general is a pretty popular so it's a great place to hangout and get beers and burgers!

Overall the food was okay but the service was slow and disappointing. The place is beautiful with some amazing decor. We asked for an outside seating area and were told it would be about an hour wait. We waited an hour and 15 minutes to be seated, and then were seated at an indoor table with no awareness by staff of our request to be outside.

We were given waters immediately but waited for our waitress for a while. By the time she came we ordered right away. The food came in appropriate timing. Our party had two pizzas and two of the Duffy burgers. The pizzas were delicious and unique, the burgers and fries were less than spectacular.

Our service was very slow and our waitress rarely came to our table, refilling our waters only once. Once we were finished eating, we waited over half an hour for our to go boxes and checks. We tried to catch the attention of our waitress but she avoided us and was standing in the kitchen talking with her coworkers, and also lingering around one of the tables with customers who were friends of hers, we assumed.

Finally we asked for the check and she brought them. When asked to take our credit cards immediately and run them as she was walking away from us, she became very snippy and didn't speak to us again. She threw the checks on the table and walked away.
