Shogi Japanese Restaurant

Sooo amazing me and my boyfriend never realize this level of quality and service existed in a cozy small place decorated tastefully. The owner wanted me to taste the avocado to make sure it was ripe enough for me and its family run.

Food is fantastic. Atmosphere is very nice. Yuko & Amano make you feel like family. We’ve been eating at this wonderful restaurant since it opened over 20 years ago. Give it a try and you’ll continue to come back.

There was a fantastic sushi joint across the street & thinking this may have been the same transplanted, I stopped in for lunch while on business.
While definitely not the same place, Shogi is without a doubt one of the best restaurants on LI, due to the overwhelming personality of the proprietors.
Finding many new sushi joints opened up by Chinese (just ask them how to say "hello" in Japanese, they will fail) this is a true Japanese mom & pop operation that will make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door.
Love Shogi, Yukon is the best. Won't be around much longer so get there while you still can.

I was there on their opening day! Hardworking family dedicated to the community and customers. Everyone feels welcome here. Yukisan and Amatosan are the most authentic, nicest, funniest Japanese proprietors ever! I wish them great health!
