Metro Diner

Had a super delicious normal American breakfast. Popular restaurant but under no pressure to eat and run. I will definitely return.

Our favourite little New York diner - pretty much exactly what you expect when you think 'American Diner'. I ate with two vegetarians and they still had lots of options with the menu, while I still got to enjoy an indulgent burger and mac and cheese.

The Metro is my home away from home. It's the friendliest restaurant I've ever been to, and I've been to thousands. The food is mostly excellent;, with several standouts. The egg salad is hands-down the best I've ever had, the omelets are great, and the cheesecake rivals any in the world. Service is terrific, a mix of Upper West Side chumminess and Lower East Side snark. Nick the manager is amazing, one of a kind. It's a great place.

I was visiting New York and had the good fortune to have breakfast with an author with whom I’d had as an email pen pal. Metro Diner is truly a diner in the midst of the Upper West Side. I imagined scores of locals coming there every day or weekend for classic diner food. I had chocolate chip pancakes. They were DIVINE. The menu was vast, with something for anyone at any time of the day. Great place.

First of all the restaurant itself has a great retro atmosphere, like straight from the movies. To my surprise the food was also really really good! Try the pancakes, french toast or waffles for breakfast! Coffee is all all you can drink and the staff is always nice and helpful.
