I met a friend visiting from Florida at the Ear Inn on a cold, wet evening in January. "Can I get a hot toddy?" my friend asked. It seems wherever he had been, he would ask for a hot toddy and all he would get was blank stares from his servers in return.
"Give it a go," I said. The server didn't bat an eye, "Sure."
A bit of the Old New York, most of which is sadly disappearing. The Ear is an institution which has been serving drinks, food and good cheer for 200 years. Thankfully, they actively discourage the use of cell phones.
I should rate it 2 so that it won't get over crowded. One of the last best NYC places. And historic. Please don't go ... (If you do it's one of the best nights you'll ever have. Ask for Maggie)
A must stop in New York City. This is a classic bar. Nothing fancy. If you come her expecting to be a hot shot then this place is not for you. This is a simple bar for simple people. A true gentleman in the city. Not many places like it left.
Only recently discovered this little gem of a spot when I was looking to bring colleagues for some proper Guinness and bites around the block from our office. The Ear Inn is a very quirky bar steeped in NYC history with a no cellphone policy which suits me perfectly. Sometimes I have been lucky to wander in and catch great jazz music being played live in the bar. Staff are always warm personable, a particular mention for Stefanie who is very attentive and friendly and I know will always look after our group well. The food menu is small but tasty, with the garlic shrimp being a favorite.
