I had a blast tonight at Pikine. Amadou is the owner and he is so hands on with the guest. I had no idea he was the owner until I complimented the service and the atmosphere and said I was going to leave a review and could I take his picture to tell everyone to ask for him to serve them. The food is fantastic, I am a very pickey eater and Amadou even suggested what I should have and he didn't disappoint me at all. I recommend this place to ANYONE!!!!

We have been visiting for lunch and although the choice was limited (3 dishes available) the food was absolutely delicious!!!!
The service is good and the place easy to find.

    I highly recommend a visit

Very nice place, with a very nice service. You can enjoy there good Senegalese food. You will always have the chance to meet the owner, a very humble man.

From the moment you step foot in this restaurant, you become a part of a family of people who are rightfully very proud of what comes out of their kitchen. These guys mean business, and after visiting earlier this week, I can honestly say, with great conviction: they will be here for a long, long time, and it makes me so happy. Their menu is small, but one doesn't need anything more than what they offer. Each of their recipes has been studied, and perfected, giving you everything you never knew you wanted on a single plate. The atmosphere is comfortable, and familiar: dimly lit, television playing the local news or music at a volume level low enough to carry a conversation easily, but just high enough to give you the option to listen during a lull. The service is bar-none, and the staff is without a doubt the friendliest you'll find nearby. As a native New Yorker, and a twenty-something year old male foodie, I've dined at some of the best restaurants in the country (according to food critics anyway), but Pikine had me dumbfounded. I was introduced to flavors I forgot or never knew existed. Order the Dibi Lamb/Chicken if you haven't tried it: the chicken is buttery and the lamb is well seasoned. Both are cooked over flame, providing a beautiful aroma and flavor and allows the meat to fall right off the bone... Overall, I can't wait to go back.

This is, without exaggeration, the best restaurant I've ever been to in NYC. The food is incredible- everything was cooked to perfection with lots of spices. The staff made the experience even better. They explained all the food to us, helped us order, and were friendly and hospitable. My boyfriend told the owner that he loved the onion side and not a minute later he came back with a whole bowl for free. And to top it all off, both meals were under $15 and we had leftovers for the next day! We will definitely be frequenting Pikine from now on.
