This place is epic. ??? So small, so simple, just epic burger/sandwich or wagyu beef sandwich with great fries. A true hidden gem. Yeah it’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it for something unique like this. Will def be back!
Very amazing place. The chef is doing something very unique here. Special to NY only.
Katsu sando is the new avocado toast (I swear, they are taking over restaurant menus and Instagram posts). We came here on a recommendation from a friend, and we decided to pop by for lunch. Don Wagyu is the first restaurant in NYC dedicated to serving wagyu katsu. They serve 200 sandwiches a day. There are only 6 stools available at the counter.
Beef is aged in-house and then breaded and deep-fried. It's served on a Hokkaido-style milk bread that's been toasted over binchotan charcoal. The available sandwiches are Washugyu ($28), A5 Miyazaki wagyu ($80), and Ozaki ($180). The Ozaki is sourced directly from Japan, and only five cattle are shipped each month and exclusive to Don Wagyu. Each sandwich is served with a side of fries (covered in seasoned salt and nori) and housemade pickles.
Ordered the A5 Miyazaki wagyu, which is the second most expensive item on the menu at $80. That fried wagyu sandwiched between the thick, pillowy bread is divine. It's definitely not an everyday meal, but it is enjoyable down to every last bite.
Really great spot if you want Wagyu look no further. Their fries are out of this world too. The prices can be intimidating but you’re getting Wagyu from Japan. They have some entree level items that I found to be a great value like the hot dog for $12 with a huge stake of fries.
Had a great experience here. I got the $180 wagyu and it comes with fries and a really crisp pickle. The place is very small with just a bar area and six seats. There was only two people working and the host was very attentive. Overall the meat was chewy but also would melt in your mouth. It can be greasy at some points but not too much that it would take away from the overall flavor. The fries were perfectly seasoned and the sauce that came with it was delicious. Lastly the pickle was nice and crisp. Tasted homemade.
