It's not as much of a secret as most speakeasies in the city but that doesn't take away from this bar. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The cocktails are strong and tasty and most of my party was happy with the bartender's specials they got. They have a nice ambience, fun menus and cozy booths and couches. Good for groups. Didn't see as many couples but it seemed decent for a date night too.
Amazing place, subtle, tasty drinks. Atmosphere somewhere between a bar and a club, with tolerably loud music, and enough lighting to read your menu.
The comedy night on Monday was great fun! Loved being in this speakeasy setting, sipping on excellent gin and whiskey cocktails while nibbling on some delicious nibbles. Would definitely recommend this to others visiting NYC!
Very versatile approach to riffs on classic cocktails — really, how often does your highball come with burning eucalyptus?
And how many places brag about sustainability and use the water from chickpeas not only as an alternative to egg whites in a whiskey sour, but as a tasteful improvement?
The thing is, it all works in an understated space where you can speak very easily.
